Can’t use Gmail, Amazon or Flipboard/Briefing apps unless I clear data first.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s5 phone. For the last 2 days I’m getting messages saying "Gmail has stopped. Would you like to close it?" The same for Amazon and Flipboard/Briefing. I can’t use those apps unless I clear the cache and data first. I haven’t downloaded any new apps. If I use Chrome, I always clear the history and cookies when I’m done. The Briefing app just appeared on my phone today. But I disabled it even though this problem started yesterday. And disabling it didn’t solve the problem.
