So, what comes after AOA? Anything???

"Android Open Accessory" (AOA). I’d never even heard about it until I started looking for a replacement for my aging Alpine CDE-136 car radio. Prime concern is connectivity to our android phones (Sony Experia, Android 8) and especially the ability to play FLAC audio files located on the phone over the car stereo. The newer Alpine UTE-73BT advertises "AOA 2.0" which sounded like what I was looking for…. until I discovered that AOA has apparently already come and gone and has been deprecated as of Android 8.

So, what’s new? What’s the "Next Big Thing" when it comes to connectivity between android phones/tables and car stereos?? Or even between android devices and home audio equipment?
